gavārthe brāhmaṇārthe vā sadyaḥ prāṇān parityajet /
prāsyedātmānamagnau vā mucyate brahmahatyayā //
For the sake of cows or for the sake of a brāhmaṇa, one should instantly surrender one's life, / or cast oneself into fire: one is freed from the killing of a brāhmaṇa.
