ṣaḍbhirvarṣaiḥ śuddhacārī brahmahā pūyate naraḥ /
vihitaṃ yadakāmā māṃ kāmāttu dviguṇaṃ smṛtaṃ //
Living purely for six years, a man who has slain a brāhmaṇa is purified. / That which is prescribed is for unintentional [killing]; but for intentional it is declared to be double.
