paurṇamāsyāṃ pañcadaśagrāsyamāvāsyabhojanaḥ /
ekāpāye tato vṛddhau cāndrāyaṇamato 'nyathā //
One eats fifteen mouthfuls on the full moon day, and [nothing] on the new moon day, / decreasing by one [mouthful per day] and then increasing: this is the cāndrāyaṇa; otherwise [it is inverted].
