dvādaśyāṃ vā caturdaśyāṃ phalāhāro yajet suraṃ(1) /
tyaktvā phalāni dadyāttu kurvan phalacaturdaśīṃ //
or on the twelfth or the fourteenth lunar day, subsisting on fruit, he should worship the god. / Having abstained from fruits, he should give them away, performing the Phala-caturdaśī.
