agnir uvāca
māsavratakamākhyāsye bhuktimuktipradāyakaṃ /
āṣāḍhādicaturmāsamabhyaṅgaṃ varjayet sudhīḥ //
The monthly votive observances.
Agni said:
I shall explain the monthly votive observance that bestows worldly enjoyment and liberation.
For four months, beginning with Āṣāḍha, the wise person should avoid oil baths.
