agnir uvāca
prathamo mahataḥ sargo vijñeyo brahmaṇastu saḥ /
tanmātrāṇāṃ dvitīyastu bhūtasargo hi sa smṛtaḥ //
Agni said: / The first creation should be known as that of Mahat, which belongs to Brahmā. / The second is that of the subtle elements, known as the elemental creation.
