ūrdhve caivāgrahāyaṇyā aṣtakāstisra īritāḥ /
aṣṭakākhyā cāṣṭamī syādāsu(1) dānāni cākṣyayaṃ //
Following the full moon day of Agrahāyaṇa, three Aṣṭakās are declared; / the eighth lunar day is named Aṣṭakā, and gifts [made] on these are inexhaustible.
