gayāgaṅgāprayāgādau tīrthe devālayādiṣu /
aprārthitāni dānāni vidyārthaṃ kanyakā na hi //
At a sacred ford such as Gayā, the Gaṅgā, or Prayāga, and in temples of the deities and the like, / gifts are unsolicited; [they may be given] for the sake of learning, but never a maiden [for money].
