kṛttikādyāni pūrveṇa maghādyāni ca yāmyataḥ /
maitrādyānyapare cātha vāsavādyāni vāpyudak //
[The asterisms] beginning with Kṛttikā belong to the east, those beginning with Maghā to the south, / those beginning with Maitrā (Anurādhā) to the west, and those beginning with Vāsava (Dhaniṣṭhā) to the north.
