udāsīno madhyago vā saṃśrayātsaṃśayaḥ smṛtaḥ /
samena sandhiranveṣyo 'hīnena ca balīyasā //
Seeking shelter with a neutral or intermediary king is known as seeking refuge. / An alliance should be sought with an equal, not with an inferior, and with one who is stronger.
