pañcayajñakriyāyuktāḥ sākṣiṇaḥ pañca vā trayaḥ /
yathājāti yathāvarṇa sarve sarveṣu vā smṛtāḥ //
engaged in the rites of the five daily sacrifices—such witnesses should be five or three, / or according to their caste and class, or all [may be witnesses] in all cases.
