agnir uvāca
vibhāgañcet pitā kuryādicchayā vibhajet sutān /
jyeṣṭhaṃ vā śreṣṭhabhāgena sarve vā syuḥ samāṃśinaḥ //
Agni said: / If a father makes a partition, he may divide [the property among] his sons at his pleasure, / or [give] the eldest the best share, or all may receive equal shares.
