śate daśapalāvṛddhiraurṇe kārpāsike tathā /
madhye pañcapalā jñeyā sūkṣme tu tripalā matā //
An increase of ten palas per hundred is recognized for wool and cotton; / for medium cloth, it should be known as five palas; but for fine, it is considered three palas.
