ūrdhvaṃ kṛtvā sammukhañca vījāya navamāya vai /
vāmahastamathottānaṃ kṛtvārdhaṃ nāmayecchanaiḥ //
and holding them upward and facing forward, [that is] indeed for the ninth seed-syllable. / Then, turning the left hand upward, one should slowly bend half of it.
