ācāryatvaṃ śrotriyaś ca na śiṣyo 'dhyayanaṃ labhet /
dhanī na lābhamāpnoti na kṛṣiñca kṛṣībalaḥ //

the learned Brahmin does not attain the rank of teacher, and the pupil does not gain study; / the wealthy man obtains no gain, and the cultivator reaps no harvest;
