yathaiva śṛṇumo dūrāt guṇāṃstadvatsamantikāt /
vabhruḥ śreṣṭho manuṣyāṇāṃ devair devāvṛdhaḥsamaḥ //
'Just as we hear of his virtues from afar, so are they found close at hand: / Babhru is foremost among men; Devāvṛdha is equal to the gods.'
