pālitastu hayo dantī śubhado duḥkhado 'nyathā /
śriyaḥ putrāstu gandharvā vājino ratnamuttamam //
A properly cared-for horse and elephant grant good fortune, but otherwise they bring sorrow. / For horses are the sons of Śrī, the Gandharvas; they are the supreme gem.
