śivamiṣṭvā japecchaktimaṣṭamyādicaturdaśīṃ /
cakrapāśāṅkuśadharāṃ sābhayāṃ varadāyikāṃ //
Having worshipped Śiva, one should recite the Śakti [mantra] from the eighth to the fourteenth [lunar day]—
[meditating on her] bearing a discus, noose, and goad, accompanied by the gesture of fearlessness, and granting boons.
