agnir uvāca
rakṣāṃ svasya pareṣāñca vakṣye tāṃ mārjanāhvayāṃ /
yayā vimucyate duḥkhaiḥ sukhañca prāpnuyānnaraḥ(2) //
Agni said:
I shall explain the protective rite for oneself and others, known as the ritual cleansing,
by which a man is freed from miseries and attains happiness.
