vaste paṭe tarau bhūrje śilāyāṃ yaṣṭikāsu ca /
madhye koṣṭhe sādhyanāma pūrvādau paṭṭikāsu ca //
On cloth, canvas, a tree, birch bark, a stone, or on sticks, / in the central cell [he should write] the target's name, and in the strips starting from the east:

kālarātrikāṃ
