piśācāṃśo malākrānto mantraṃ dadyānnirīkṣya ca /
mantra ekāt phaḍantaḥ syāt vidyāpañcāśatāvadhi //
the Piśāca-portion is overcome by impurity; having examined [this], one should impart the mantra. / A mantra ending in phaṭ may consist of one [syllable]; a vidyā extends up to fifty [syllables].
