karmavaśyā guṇāś caite sattvādyāḥ pṛthivīpate /
avidyāsañcitaṃ karma taccāśeṣeṣu jantuṣu //
And these qualities, sattva and the rest, are subject to karma, O lord of the earth; / and karma is accumulated through ignorance in all living beings.
