toye tu patite haste vāmano 'bhūdavāmanaḥ /
bhūrlokaṃ sa bhuvarlokaṃ svarlokañca padatrayaṃ //
When the water fell upon his hand, the dwarf ceased to be a dwarf: / he [encompassed] the earth, the atmosphere, and heaven with three strides.
