datvā dānāni viprebhyo dīnānāthebhya eva saḥ /
mātṛbhiś caiva viprādyaiḥ śokārtair nirgataḥ purāt //
having given gifts to the brahmins, and to the poor and helpless, / he departed from the city [accompanied] by his mothers and by the brahmins and others stricken with grief.
