pātraṃ dhvajaṃ kuñjarādi dadyādācāryake dvijaḥ /
eṣa sādhāraṇaḥ prokto dhvajasyārohaṇe vidhiḥ //
The twice-born should give the vessel, the banner, an elephant, and so forth to the preceptor. / This common rule has been declared for hoisting the banner.
