avaśyaṃ yadi martavyaṃ varaṃ rāmo na rāvaṇaḥ /
iti matvā mṛgo bhūtvā sītāgre vyacaranmuhuḥ //
If one must inevitably die, better Rāma than Rāvaṇa.”
Thinking thus, having become a deer, he roamed repeatedly before Sītā.
