paitryaṃ mūle pradeśinyāḥ kaniṣṭhāyāḥ prajāpateḥ /
brāhmyamaṅguṣṭhamūlasthaṃ tīrthaṃ daivaṃ karāgrataḥ //
The tīrtha of the ancestors is at the root of the forefinger, and that of Prajāpati at the little finger;
the tīrtha of Brahmā is at the root of the thumb, and that of the gods at the tips of the fingers.
