īśvara uvāca
tattvayoratha sandhānaṃ kuryācchuddhaviśuddhayoḥ /
hrasvadīrghaprayogeṇa nādanādāntasaṅginā //
The Lord said: / Then one should effect the junction of the two principles, the pure and the purified, / by the use of the short and long [vowels] accompanied by resonance and the end of resonance:
