śivāya lokasya bhavāya bhūtaye ya uttamaślokaparāyaṇā janāḥ /
jīvanti nātmārtham asau parāśrayaṃ mumoca nirvidya kutaḥ kalevaram //

12. "Men devoted to the glorious Vasudeva, live, not for their own sake, but for (promoting) the happiness, wealth and power of the world: what moved such a warrior to renunciation and the casting off of the body which was the support of other beings.
