ātmano gurur ātmaiva puruṣasya viśeṣataḥ /
yat pratyakṣānumānābhyāṃ śreyo 'sāv anuvindate //
20. Atman (Self) is indeed the preceptor of self, especially in the case of man endowed with all the faculties: for, both by direct perception and by inference he works out his own good.
