itthaṃ kalau gata-prāye janeṣu khara-dharmiṣu /
dharma-trāṇāya sattvena bhagavān avatariṣyati //
16. When thus, in the fag end of Kali, people take to wicked ways of conduct, the Lord appears on Earth for the protection of Dharma through *Satva Guna*.
