vittam eva kalau nṝṇāṃ janmācāra-guṇodayaḥ /
dharma-nyāya-vyavasthāyāṃ kāraṇaṃ balam eva hi //
2. In the age of Kali it is only wealth that confers on men the qualifications of noble birth, conduct and qualities; and in deciding what is righteous or just, might will be the only standard.
