tadā bhūmer gandha-guṇaṃ grasanty āpa uda-plave /
grasta-gandhā tu pṛthivī pralayatvāya kalpate //

14. Then the waters as they flood the Universe absorb the quality of Gandha or smell of Earth and Earth (Prithivi) having lost its property Gandha ceases to be.
