āhuś cirāyuṣam ṛṣiṃ mṛkaṇḍu-tanayaṃ janāḥ /
yaḥ kalpānte hy urvarito yena grastam idaṃ jagat //
2. People say that the son of Mrikanda is a sage blessed with long life and he alone was left alive at the time of Pralaya (Deluge) by which this world was swallowed up.
