visasarja tadā bāṇaṃ matvā taṃ sva-jitaṃ smaraḥ /
sarvaṃ tatrābhavan mogham anīśasya yathodyamaḥ //
28. At that moment, Manmatha darted his shaft, confident of subduing him (the sage); (but) there, like the endeavours of an unlucky man, all that (effort) proved futile.
