bṛhad-vrata-dharaḥ śānto jaṭilo valkalāmbaraḥ /
bibhrat kamaṇḍaluṃ daṇḍam upavītaṃ sa-mekhalam //
8. He led the strictest celibate life, was free from all passions, wore matted hair and clothes of bark, the sacred thread and the zone of sacred grass and carried a jar (and a staff) (in his hand).
