priyavratottānapādau sutau svāyambhuvasya vai /
yathā-dharmaṃ jugupatuḥ sapta-dvīpavatīṃ mahīm //
2—3. (Be pleased to tell me how) the famous Priyavrata and Uttanapada, sons of Swayambhuva, protected Dharma (righteousness) and also the earth comprised of the seven Dwipas; and his famous daughter Devahuti by name was, O Brahman, mentioned by thee as the wife of Kardama the Prajapati, O sinless one.
