dyotanaṃ pacanaṃ pānam adanaṃ hima-mardanam /
tejaso vṛttayas tv etāḥ śoṣaṇaṃ kṣut tṛḍ eva ca //
40. These are the effects of Tejas *viz.*, to give light, to cook (food), to absorb, to intoxicate, to destroy cold, and to dry things, as well as to cause hunger and thirst.
