ity evaṃ śaiśavaṃ bhuktvā duḥkhaṃ paugaṇḍam eva ca /
alabdhābhīpsito 'jñānād iddha-manyuḥ śucārpitaḥ //
Having thus experienced the misery of infancy and of childhood, / failing to obtain what he desires out of ignorance, his anger is kindled, and he is overcome with grief.
