sa ittham udvīkṣya tad-abja-nāla- nāḍībhir antar-jalam āviveśa /
nārvāg-gatas tat-khara-nāla-nāla- nābhiṃ vicinvaṃs tad avindatājaḥ //

19. He thus thought over and through the passages (hollow) in the stalk he entered into the water; going down and searching through the stalk of the lotus which had a rough and thorny stalk, Aja (Bramha) did not reach that which he sought to know.
