sanakādyā nāradaś ca ṛbhur haṃso 'ruṇir yatiḥ /
naite gṛhān brahma-sutā hy āvasann ūrdhva-retasaḥ //

1. Maitreya said:—Saunaka and others, Nārada and Ribhu, Hamsa, Āruni and Yati—all these sons of Brahma remained in celibacy without taking up the householder's life.
