4.9.34

mayaitat prārthitaṃ vyarthaṃ cikitseva gatāyuṣi /
prasādya jagad-ātmānaṃ tapasā duṣprasādanam /
bhava-cchidam ayāce 'haṃ bhavaṃ bhāgya-vivarjitaḥ //

34. This has been in vain sought after by me, like medical treatment in the case of one whose life is cut short. Having by my Tapas propitiated the Lord of the universe who is not easily propitiated and who (alone) can eradicate the Saṃsāra, I, being unfortunate, begged Saṃsāra of Him.
