/0 ṛṣir uvāca
antarāla eva tri-jagatyās tu diśi dakṣiṇasyām adhastād bhūmer upariṣṭāc ca jalād yasyām agniṣvāttādayaḥ pitṛ-gaṇā diśi svānāṃ gotrāṇāṃ parameṇa samādhinā satyā evāśiṣa āśāsānā nivasanti //

5. The sage said:— They are only in the sky between the three divisions of the Universe; they lie towards the south below the Earth and above water. And in this direction dwell the groups of Pitṛis, *viz.*, Agnishvatta and others in a state of intense contemplation, always invoking real blessings on their descendants and races.
