saptadvīpādhipatayo nṛpā vaiṇyagayādayaḥ /
arthaiḥ kāmairgatā nāntaṃ tṛṣṇāyā iti naḥ śrutam //
23. We are told that the kings who governed the seven Dwipas, Vainya, Gaya and others, had not ceased to desire for more with all their hordes of wealth and objects of pleasure.
