aṃśumāṃśca tapastepe gaṅgānayanakāmyayā /
kālaṃ mahāntaṃ nāśaknot tataḥ kālena saṃsthitaḥ //

1. Sri Suka said:—Amsuman also performed tapas for a long time [intent on bringing down Ganga], but he was not able to do so and in course of time he passed away.
