As the divine sun circles Mount Meru, illuminating one half of the earth's surface with heat and leaving the other half covered in darkness, he—whose extraordinary prowess was magnified by the worship of the Lord—disapproved of this and, resolving, “I shall turn night into day,” rode a chariot of light equal in speed to the sun, encircling it seven times like a second sun.
