8.13.1
Śrī Śuka said: / The son of Vivasvat is known as the Manu named Śrāddhadeva; / he is the seventh, who is currently present. Hear from me about his offspring.
8.13.2
Ikṣvāku, Nabhaga, Dhṛṣṭa, Śaryāti, / Nariṣyanta, and then Nābhāga; the seventh is called Diṣṭa;
8.13.3
Tarūṣa, Pṛṣadhra, and the tenth is remembered as Vasumat. / These, O scorcher of foes, are the ten sons of the Manu Vaivasvata.
8.13.4
The Ādityas, the Vasus, the Rudras, the Viśvedevas, the hosts of Maruts, / the two Aśvins, and the Ṛbhus, O King—their Indra is Purandara.
8.13.5
Kaśyapa, Atri, Vasiṣṭha, Viśvāmitra, and Gautama, / Jamadagni and Bharadvāja—these are remembered as the seven sages.
8.13.6
Here too occurred the appearance of the Lord from Kaśyapa and Aditi / as the youngest of the Ādityas, Viṣṇu, assuming the form of Vāmana.
8.13.7
I have described to you in brief the seven Manvantaras; / now I shall speak of the future ones, endowed with the power of Viṣṇu.
8.13.8
Vivasvat had two wives, both daughters of Viśvakarman: / Saṃjñā and Chāyā, O best of kings, who were mentioned to you before.
8.13.9
Some say a mare was the third. Of them, Saṃjñā had three children: / Yama, Yamī, and Śrāddhadeva. Now hear of the children of Chāyā:
8.13.10
Sāvarṇi, the maiden Tapatī who became the wife of Saṃvaraṇa, / and Śanaiścara was the third. The two Aśvins were the sons of the mare.
8.13.11
When the eighth period arrives, Sāvarṇi will be the Manu; / Nirmoka, Virajaska, and others are the sons of Sāvarṇi, O King.
8.13.12
There the gods will be the Sutapas, the Virajas, and the Amṛtaprabhas; / of them, Bali, the son of Virocana, will be Indra.
8.13.13
Having given this earth to Viṣṇu when He begged for three strides of land, / and abandoning the achieved status of Indra, he will attain perfection from that.
8.13.14
He who was bound by the pleased Lord, placed again / in Sutala, which is superior to heaven, now resides there like a sovereign.
8.13.15
Gālava, Dīptimat, Paraśurāma, the son of Droṇa, and Kṛpa, / Ṛṣyaśṛṅga, and our father, the venerable Bādarāyaṇa—
8.13.16
these will be the seven sages then through their yoga; / at present, O King, they reside each in his own hermitage.
8.13.17
From Devaguhya and Sarasvatī, the almighty Lord named Sārvabhauma / will seize the position from Purandara and give it to Bali.
8.13.18
The ninth Manu will be Dakṣasāvarṇi, born of Varuṇa; / Bhūtaketu, Dīptaketu, and others are his sons, O King.
8.13.19
The gods are recorded as the Pāras, the Marīcigarbhas, and others; Adbhuta is Indra; / then the sages there will be headed by Dyutimat.
8.13.20
From Āyuṣmat and Ambudhārā, Ṛṣabha, a plenary portion of the Lord, / will appear, by whom the three worlds, fully secured, will be enjoyed by Adbhuta.
8.13.21
The tenth Manu will be Brahmasāvarṇi, son of Upaśloka; / his sons are headed by Bhūriṣeṇa, and the twice-born sages are headed by Haviṣmat.
8.13.22
Haviṣmat, Sukṛta, Satya, Jaya, and Mūrti will then be the twice-born sages; / the gods will be the Suvāsanas, Viruddhas, and others; Śambhu will be the ruler of the gods.
8.13.23
Viṣvaksena, born of Viṣūcī from His own portion / as the all-pervading Lord in the house of the creator of the universe, will make friendship with Śambhu.
8.13.24
The eleventh self-controlled Manu will indeed be Dharmasāvarṇi; / his ten sons to come will be Satyadharma and others.
8.13.25
The gods will be the Vihaṅgamas, Kāmagamas, and Nirvāṇarucis; / their Indra will be Vaidhṛta, and the sages will be Aruṇa and others.
8.13.26
There the son of Āryaka, known as Dharmasetu, / born of Vaidhṛtā as a portion of Hari, will sustain the three worlds.
8.13.27
The twelfth Manu, O King, will be Rudrasāvarṇi; / his sons will be Devavat, Upadeva, Devaśreṣṭha, and others.
8.13.28
And there Indra will be Ṛtadhāman; the gods will be the Haritas and others; / and the sages will be Tapomūrti, Tapasvin, Āgnīdhraka, and others.
8.13.29
A portion of Hari named Svadhāman, the son of Satyasahas / and Sunṛtā, the all-pervading Lord, will protect that period of Manu.
8.13.30
The thirteenth self-controlled Manu to come will be Devasāvarṇi; / Citrasena, Vicitra, and others are the sons born of Devasāvarṇi.
8.13.31
The gods will be known as the Sukarmans and Sutrāmāns; the Indra will be Divaspati; / Nirmoka, Tattvadarśa, and others will then be the sages.
8.13.32
A son of Devahotra, an ally of Divaspati / named Yogeśvara, an incarnation of Hari, will be born of Bṛhatī.
8.13.33
The fourteenth Manu will be Indrasāvarṇi; / Uru, Gambhīra, Budha, and others are born of Indrasāvarṇi's seed.
8.13.34
The gods will be the Pavitras and Cākṣuṣas; Śuci will be Indra; / Agni, Bāhu, Śuci, Śuddha, Māgadha, and others will be the ascetics.
8.13.35
Then Hari, as Bṛhadbhānu, son of Satrāyaṇa / through Vitānā, O great King, will extend the threads of ritual action.
8.13.36
O King, these fourteen [Manvantaras] spanning the three divisions of time / have been declared to you; by them a Kalpa is measured, a cycle of a thousand ages.
