tadbhujyate yaddvijabhuktaśeṣaṃ sa buddhimānyo na karoti pāpam /
tatsauhṛdaṃ yakriyate parokṣe dambhairvinā yaḥ kriyate sa dharmaḥ //
That is eaten which is the remainder of what a twice-born has eaten; he is wise who commits no sin; / that is friendship which is maintained behind one's back; that is dharma which is practiced without hypocrisy.
