śrīgaruḍamahāpurāṇam- 147
dhanvantariruvāca /
vakṣye jvaranidānaṃ hi sarvajvaravibuddhaye /
jvaro rogapatiḥ pāpmā mṛtyurājo 'śano 'ntakaḥ /
kruddhadakṣādhvaradhvaṃsirudrordhvanayanodbhavaḥ //

The glorious Garuḍapurāṇa — 147 / Dhanvantari said: / I will proclaim the diagnosis of fever for the full understanding of all fevers. / Fever is the king of diseases, evil, the lord of death, the devourer, the end-maker, / born from the upper eye of Rudra when he was angry and destroyed the sacrifice of Dakṣa.
