annātprāṇā balaṃ tejaścānnādvīryaṃ dhṛtiḥ smṛtiḥ //
all these are not worth a sixteenth part of the gift of food. / From food come the life-breaths, strength, and vitality; and from food come vigor, fortitude, and memory.
